We arrived at our airbnb cottage around 8 p.m. and the hostess was super friendly as she warned us about the unspoken dangers of New Orleans, you know…the muggings at gunpoint and what-not, but not to worry because our cottage is located in a very safe area on a very safe street, and no (reported) shenanigans has happened in a full 2 weeks. She pointed out all the streets to avoid while walking around at night and we smiled nodding at all her instructions and advice whilst wondering in the back of our minds if we’d actually make it out of this trip alive.
The cottage, however, is absolutely lovely and I couldn’t even imagine staying anywhere else while here…
The first dinner at The Praline Connection was as expected if you venture out in unknown territory sans planned dining arrangements.
Nothing to die for (I should probably stop using that phrase), but nothing horrible either. I can’t remember if I ever had alligator before, but we shared fried alligator sausages as an appetizer and it was delicious.
After an almost full day of work and traveling, neither one of us was in the mood for the rowdiness that Bourbon or Frenchman St. offers, so we settled on bar stools at the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, which was tame and empty as many patrons were upstairs watching the show.
We arrived back to our charming cottage unharmed and no money lost. Hope to keep up this streak for the next 4 nights…
